Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a gold powder having excellent surface shape by adding a specific proportion of FeSO4 or FeCl2 and Na2SO3 or K2SO3, together with an organic dispersant, to an aqueous solution of gold chloride and causing them to react.
CONSTITUTION: A gold chloride aqueous solution is mixed at the rate of 0.02W 0.3g/l of an organic dispersant, e.g., polyvinyl alcohol, stearic acid, or sodium benzene sulfonate, and then the mixture is further mixed with an aqueous solution containing 0.7W0.9 equivalents of FeSO4.7H2O or FeCl2 as a reducing agent for gold chloride, or with a small amount of sulfuric acid, and further with 0.1W0.3 equivalents of an auxiliary reducing agent, e.g., sulfites such as Na2SO3, K2SO3, etc., and they are reacted at a temperature below 30°C. The gold powder being deposited is filtered, washed, and dried to obtain a gold powder for a conductive gold paste, having a very smooth surface shape, which is used in the electronic industry.
