Abstract
PURPOSE: To easily prepare various kinds of heat-insulating tubes by one cutter by a method wherein an inorganic fibrous platelike substance formed by compression into layer of high-density is cut into square pillar-shapes bodies and half-cylindrical parts as heat-insulating tubes surrounding a pipe body are cut out from one-side parts thereof.
CONSTITUTION: An inorganic fibrous platelike substance 1 prepared by impregnating a raw material such as rock wool with a binder such as phenolic resin and compressing the material to that of high density, while setting the same in a thermosetting furnace, is cut into square pillar-shaped bodies 1a in the fixed length. Next, the square pillar-shaped bodies 1a thus prepared are set on and fixed to a working stand 4 and are pressed from above by a pressing board 5. Parallel distances r1 and r2 between the center line of a rotary axis supported at both ends of the working stand and a belt saw are set equal to the radiuses r1 and r2 of a desired protection tube and the square pillar-shaped body 1a is rotated like a circular arc, together with the working stand 4, in the direction of the endless-beltlike belt saw 7, whereby a half-cylindrical part 2a forming a heat-insulating tube and having an inner diameter r2 and a radius r1 is formed.
