Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a polyimide resin having excellent film-forming properties and being soluble in an organic polar solvent, by reacting, with heating in an organic solvent, an organic tetracarboxylic acid with isophoronediamine or isophorone diisocyanate.
CONSTITUTION: A polyimide resin represented by formula I or II is prepared by reacting, with heating in an organic solvent, an organic tetracrboxylic acid or a compound which is a derivative thereof and has a similar function with isophoronediamine or isophorone diisocyanate. Examples of the organic tetracarboxylic acid include pyromellitic acid and benzophenonetetracarboxylic acid. But from a point of heat resistance, aromatic tetracarboxylic acids are preferred. Examples of isophoronediamine and isophorone diisocyanate include 3-aminomethyl-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexylamine as isophoronediamine and 3-isocyanatomethyl-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexyl isocyanate as isophorone diisocyanate.
