Abstract
PURPOSE: To economically remove particles from raw heavy oil so that the raw heavy oil is effectively utilized, by a method wherein the heavy oil is mixed with light oil and then with water, and the mixture is guided into an electric field to remove water particles, and the light oil is recovered.
CONSTITUTION: Light oil is mixed to raw heavy oil in which fine particles of less than 50μ size are contained without interposition of water film, so that the viscosity and specific gravity are reduced. To the mixture, 3W20wt% of water is added and the liquid is stirred to disperse water particles. the mixture is then introduced between electrodes with an electric field of 600W6,000V/cm at a temperature of 80W 200°C and at a pressure of 6W25kg/cm2G so that water particles and other particles are removed. Then, the light oil is recovered from the mixture. The purpose of mixing light oil to heavy oil is to cause the largest possible difference in the specific gravity against water so as to accelerate natural settling of water in the electric field. Thus, it is preferable to make the specific gravity of the mixed oil to fall in 0.91W 0.82.
