Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the viscosity of an ink even and improve the quality of printing by providing a means for detecting and controlling the viscosity of the collected ink in an ink-jet printing device provided with an unnecessary ink collecting device. CONSTITUTION:Between a gutter 7 collecting unrequired ink-jet particles 14 not to be employed for printing and an ink tank is provided a measuring chamber 20 for measuring the viscosity of ink. When it is detected that the viscosity of ink exceeds a fixed value by an ink viscosity measuring means in the chamber 20, an ink-diluting liquid contained in a tank 40 is supplied in the ink tank 9, while the ink being churned by a motor 30, thus the viscosity of ink being equalized. The inside of the chamber 20 is separated into passages 20a and 20b, while on the upper part thereof is located a flapper 21 rotated by a solenoid 25, and by the flapper the passage of ink from the gutter 7 is changed over selectively. The ink collected in the passage 20b is supplied to the tank 7 through a particle-size measuring means composed of a mesh plate 23, level sensors 24a, 24b and others.
