Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a garbage treating device especially suitable for treating household garbage by a method wherein a flooding wall is provided in a fermenting tank and garbage is transported to more remote place while the garbage is successively flooded as well as methane produced by fermentation is continuously withdrawn.
CONSTITUTION: A fermenting tank 27 is enclosed by a heat insulating wall 30 and a stirring apparatus 38 and a heater 14 are provided therein. When garbage is thrown into from a throw-in cylinder 4 while being crushed, said garbage is successively thansferred remotely in the vicinity of a garbage receiving section 31 by a bladed wheel 38 and, at the same time, stirred by a stirrer 39. Whithin the tank, the first, second and third flooding walls 32, 33, 34 are provided and, as a result, U- shaped trap chambers are formed. Moreover, said flooding walls are designed in such a manner that the height thereof becomes lower over a remote direction. Therefore, firstly thrown-in garbage is firstly exhausted from an exhaust part 24. Produced methane is taken out from a pipe 17 and introduced to an igniting apparatus 44 utilizing a gas pressure as energy sourse and utilized as a domestic fuel.
