Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled element that has virtually no sensitivity to alcohol and shows a high and stable sensitivity to NH3, by forming a layer on oxide semiconductor of the V2O5.Sm2O3.Sb2O3.Ag group on the surface of a thin platinum film resistor provided on an insulated substrate. CONSTITUTION:An alimina tube or quartz tube 1 is rotated to ensure an even sputtering of plutinum, and a heat aging is given to obtain a high stability. In such way, a thin platinum film resistor 2 is obtained. On the other hand, V2O5 of high purity is compounded with 3-10wt% Sm2O3, 1-5wt% Sb2O3 and 0.5-5wt% AgNO3 to prepare a paste with addition of water. After drying and crashing, the paste is calcined to produce the semiconductor powder showing a high sensitivity only to ammonia. Then the layer 3 of such oxide semiconductor is formed on the surface of the resistor 2 by the sputtering method or painting method and then stabilized with a heat aging. A heater 5 is incorporated into the resistor. Such resistor is then assembled on a stem to complete an ammonia detecting sensor.
