Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover and reuse gaseous Ar for atmoization by providing a gaseous Ar compressor, a gaseous Ar liquefier, a liq. Ar tank, a liq. Ar evaporator, etc. to an apparatus for manufacturing powdered metal by an atomizing method.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal M to be pulverized is allowed to flow down from nozzle 13 of tundish 12, and gaseous Ar is sprayed from spray nozzle 8 to manufacture powdered metallic P. In the apparatus for manufacturing metallic P the gaseous Ar is fed to cyclone 2 to recover mixed powdered metal, and the metal-free Ar is compressed with compressor 3 and stored in gas holder 4. The gaseous Ar is then liquefied with liquefier 5, stored in tank 6, evaporated with evaporator 7, and sprayed from nozzle 8 again to scatter and pulverize molten metal, thus manufacturing metallic particles free from an oxide film. Gaseous Ar for atomization is recovered and reused, resulting in reduced expenses for gas for atomization.
