Abstract

PURPOSE:To raise resistance to liquid leak by providing integrally a hot adhesive resin layer on the inner side of the metal plates of positive and negative electrode cases and then adhering the resin layer to end portions of adjacent both cases by heating to enclose them integrally. CONSTITUTION:The positive electrode case 1 is housed with the porous silver layer 9 with the AgO 5 as the positive electrode active material and the current collector 10, and then on the layer 9, the separator layer 6, the liquid-impregnated mat 7, and the amalgamated zinc 8 are placed in order. Then, these are sealed up by the negative electrode case 2 to which the negative electrode current collector 12 is welded. Both the cases 1 and 2 for such a cell are formed by using the metal parts 1a and 2a and the hot-adhesive resins 1b and 2b of polyethylene, etc., provided on the inner surfaces of the metal parts, and both the resins 1b and 2b are contacted with each other when being sealed up and heated by pressure from both sides by means of heating metals to integrally seal them up.
