Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently produce an adhesive having good adhesive properties, by a method wherein a polyisoprene having low MW of 10,000W90,000 is modified with maleic anhydride etc. and the modified product is mixed with a metallic cross-linking agent and a tackfier resin at a temperature higher than 80°C.
CONSTITUTION: To a polyisoprene having MW of 10,000W90,000 is added maleic anhydride or its derivative in amount of 0.03W7mol% with respect to an isoprene monomer unit to obtain a modified polyisoprene (LIR). To 100pts.wt. of the modified polyisoprene are added 0.5W30pts.wt. of a metallic corss-linking agent (ZnO, CaO, a metal salt of a resin acid, etc.) and 5W250pts.wt. of terpenic, aromatic, or aliphatic hydrocarbon resin, etc. as a tackfier resin at a temperature higher than 80°C, to cause a cross-linking reaction among LIRs to thereby provide the desired adhesive properties. The obtained adhesive material is coated on a polyester film, etc. at 100°C or higher so that an adhesive tape is provided. The process also provides products suited for protective coating material, sealing material, etc.
