Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture hot formed product having high density and improved strength from powder, by embossing formation of alloy powder etc. contg. a prescribed quantity of a specific easily oxidizable element, by heating it to a specific temp. and keeping it at the temp., by forging and hardening it immediately, then by diffusing it under specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy powder contg. ≥1wt% easily oxidizable element having an eutectic point, having bonding energy to O2 larger than that of Mn, i.e. the element which is hardly reduced at ordinary sintering temp. with N2 economically usable, is subjected to embossing formation, then it is heated to a temp. range, where both solid and liquid phases of the alloy are present, and it is immediately forged and hardened. Subsequently, it is diffused at a temp. not higher than the eutectic temp. and not lower than the temp. 200°C below the eutectic temp. and in an nonreducing atmosphere. This method makes it possible to manufacture hot formed product having high strength, which was hardly manufactured formerly, by using said powder.
