Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform welding free from defection due to a coating layer when welding a plate material having the coating layer formed by plating, etc., by working a projection part and recess part on and in the plate material to be welded and connecting flank parts having no coating layer.
CONSTITUTION: Plate material 12a having coating layer 13a formed on the surface by plating, vapor deposition, resin coating, etc., is worked to provide projection part 15, and at the reverse side, recess part 17 is formed. This projection part 15 is fitted in recess part 17 of another plate material and flanks 16a and 16b of projection part 15 and recess part 17 having no surface coating layer are welded. In another method, inside walls of the recess part are formed in a taper shape and a space is formed between flanks of a recess part to be fitted, thereby performing welding. Otherwise, a through hole is made in one plate material to be welded and after the projection part of the other plate material is fitted in the hole, a welding electrode is pressed against to the tip of the projection part for welding. Since the welding is carried out between flanks of work parts having no coating layer, defection in welding caused by the coating layer is not generated.
