Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a steel with excellent corrosion resistance and strength obtained by adding C, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr, Nb, Cu and N to Fe in a specific ratio.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy consisting of, in a wt. ratio, 0.05% or less C, 1.5W4.5%, pref., 2.5W3.5% Si, 2.0% or less Mn, 4W9%, pref., 5W7% Ni, 10W17% pref., 10W13% Cr, 0.2W2.0% pref., 0.3W1.5% Nb, 0.5W1.5% Cu, 0.05% or less of N and the remainder oof substantial Fe is prepared. Further, a ratio of Nb/N+1.17C is adjusted to more than 7. Thereby, the steel which substantially comprises a martensite texture in a solid solution treatment condition, is hardened by aging heat treatment and has cutting property and strength equal to that of a martenaging steel and corrosion resistance equal to that of a precipitation hardening type steel is obtained from an inexpensive material.
