Abstract
PURPOSE: To control the concentrations of combustible components, and to prevent the explosion and the gas-poisoning caused by the leak of the combustible components, by inserting a gas analyzer, an oxygen supplier, and a catalyzing apparatus in the discharge line of the cooling gas.
CONSTITUTION: Cooling gas composed mainly of N2 is sent from the waste-heat boiler 8 through the line 7 to the coke quenching apparatus for cooling and quenching of the coke on the grate 3. The combustible components such as CO and H2 mixed in the cooling gas is analyzed with the gas analyzer 11, and the quantity of air necessary to burn the combustible components is calculated by the controller 12 according to the data transmitted from the analyzer. The air sent from the air suppier 13 is controlled by the control valve 15 adjusted by the controller 12, and sent to the discharge line 9 through the air line 14. The combustible components is burnt with the air by the aid of the catalyst in the catalyzing apparatus 16, and converted to the inert gas such as CO2, H2O, etc.
