Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve discharge capacity and life by inserting the plate group having positive and negative plates piled-up through a liquid-absorbing separator into a battery enclosure and pouring the dilute sulfuric acid having a predetermined amount of silicon dioxide dispersed and forming into gel form. CONSTITUTION:A plate group is formed by piling-up positive and negative plates through a liquid-absorbing separator. The plate group is inserted into a battery enclosure, and the dilute sulfuric acid in sol form having silicon dioxide dispersed in 0.5-2.5wt% is poured. Therefore, a part of the dilute sulfuric acid in the electrolyte in sol form is preferentially absorbed into the plate group having the separator, and the ratio of silicon dioxide in the electrolyte in the vicinity of the plate group becomes larger, and gel formation is accelerated. In order to keep the battery enclosure in sealed state, it is desirable to form the positive and negative plates from the plates formation-processed.
