Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable prompt and easy maintenance by connecting the transmitting side and receiving side through an attenuator that has a preset attenuation characteristic and letting it make self-diagnosis. CONSTITUTION:A switching section 91 is actuated by a signal 21a, and transmission paths 50, 51 are by-passes with a transmission path 52. Further, transmitting and receiving terminals of a transmitting and receiving section 81 are connected through an attenuator 56. At this time, all of switching circuits 11-13 select the receiving side. Predetermined data transmitted from a computer 21 are received through a buffer 4, a transmitting circuit 6, a transmitter 8, an LED10 and a self- loop that passes through the attenuator 56, a photoelectric element 9, a receiver 5 and a buffer 3. In this way diagnosis can be made also on the operation regarding the characteristic such as the amount of attenuation of the transmitting path required to the signal transmitting device, and maintenance can be performed promptyl and easily.
