Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure the upper limit value of a delay time regardless of the state of congestion, by classifying the packets by the priority and then assure on every class the upper limit value of the delay time by which the packet reaches a desired host computer. CONSTITUTION:An originating host computer transmits the data block composed of the priority class C and the like. For this packet, the value is renewed for the pass time Tacm by every time the packet passes through each node. The renewal of the pass time is performed by obtaining T3=T2-T1 and Tb=l/s and then adding Ta+Tb to Tacm, where Ta is the time of stay of the packet at a certain node, T1 is the time of reception of the packet at the node, T2 is the time of transmission, Tb is the time of transfer, l is the length of packet, and the speed of the link 3 is set at a bits/sec. respectively. Each node forms a queue waiting packet transmission by every link according to priority class to send the packet to a link according to a cueue of high priority. The priority is selected at each node for the queue to which the packet is added from the difference between Tacm and Tmax.
