Abstract

PURPOSE: To synchronize the pressing timings of the upper and lower punches provided to upper and lower die set and improve the efficiency of forging by letting the lower die set rise upon descending of the upper die set connected to the press.
CONSTITUTION: In the lower die 23 of a lower die set 12, a blank billet 30 is set to the top surface of a lower punch 26. Next, as a ram 11 descends, an upper die set 10 moves downward and its protrusion 31 abuts against a piston 20, thereby force pushing down the same. This causes the oil pressure of a sub-cylinder 21 to raise a main piston 27, along with which the lower punch 26 is pushed up, by which the blank 30 is pushed up. At this time, an upper punch 24 descends with the downward movement of the upper die set 10 and as the lower punch 26 is pushed up, the upper punch 24 rises by way of the blank 30, thereby abutting against the pressing member 25. Then, the compression load of the link press mechanism acts upon the upper punch 24, thus forging the blank 30 by the molding surfaces between the upper die 18 and lower die 23.
