Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a title resin with high absorbability, rapid adsorbing speed and high durability by a method wherein a polyamino polycarboxylic acid containing N-bound active hydrogen or salts thereof, amine compounds, aldehydes and phenols are reacted and hardened by heating. CONSTITUTION:(A) A polyamino polycarboxylic acid containing one or more active hydrogen bound to nitrogen or salts thereof, (B) polyamine compounds, (C) aldehydes, and (D) phenols are reacted in the presence of a solvent, preferably water or alcohols at 20-100 deg.C for 1-10 hrs. and the obtained precondensate solution is molded to form a film, thereafter hardened at 70-160 deg.C for 1-20 hrs. and ground to 10-50 meshes to obtain a chelate resin for adsorbing heavy metals. As (A), ethylenediamine-monoacetic acid or the like, as (B), ethylenediamine or the like, as (C), formaldehyde or the like, and as (D), phenol or the like are mentioned.
