Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve the reduction in size and weight by making use of the combustion heat of gas for fusion bonding. CONSTITUTION:A stage 5 for adjusting the movement of a gas burner 58 provided with a stationary table 51, moving tables 52, 53 and elevating member 54 is provided on a base table 1; an oxygen gas cylinder 56 and a butane gas cylinder 57 are mounted by way of a support frame 55 on the bracket 54a of an elevating member 54 and the end part of the gas burner 58 whose root end part is fixed to the support frame 55 is extended between the opposing ends of holders 24, 34 so as to face them from below. With this arrangement, the optical fibers P, P fixed to the holders 24, 34 are fusion-bonded through utilization of the combustion heat of gas by moving and adjusting the gas burner 58 to a desired three-dimensional position while viewing a microscope 4. Hence, the need for commercial power supplies and high voltage devices is eliminated and the intended object achieved.
