Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve a processing efficiency as the whole of the magnetic tape processing system by providing a tape mark detection circuit in a magnetic tape device.
CONSTITUTION: After the read output signal from magnetic tape 5 is converted into a data form to be sent to a magnetic tape control unit by a converter, the tape mark pattern is retrieved by tape mark pattern detection circuit 7. When the tape mark pattern is detected, tape mark pattern counter 8 is operated at the period of frame timer 9 of magnetic tape 1; and when the tape mark pattern of a prescribed number of frames is detected, tape mark detection interrupt indicator 10 is set to generate an interrupt signal to the magnetic tape control unit. During this time, patterns other than the tape mark pattern and the tape mark pattern below a prescribed number of frames are all ignored, and counter 8 is reset in record gaps on the magnetic tape.
