Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable a branch pipe to be welded to a main pipe by mathematically expressing necessary information such as the loci of saddle type curves, the postures of a torch, welding speeds, etc., arithmetically processing the same and driving the welding device based on the results thereof.
CONSTITUTION: Since the information necessary for welding are the positions of welding loci, the angles of a welding torch and welding conditions, these are mathematically expressed respectively to the specified formulas which are then arithmetically processed and based on the results thereof, a torch, etc. are controlled. For example, a welding device 9 is fixed by making use of the outside diameter, etc. of the branch pipe of the work W by a fixing device 10. In welding, a command renewing circuit 23 operates at every time interval specified by a time interval control circuit 27, whereby the command value of the θ-axis is renewed. Based on the value of this θ as well as the respective values of a register 21, arithmetic circuits 24, 25, 26 operate to calculate the command values of the R-, Z- and ω-axes which are then set respectively in registers 22, whereby the respective axes of the welding device 9 are driven.
