Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently remove org. matter from the Bayer process by countercurrently feeding a Bayer process washing liquid to two-stage horizontal table type filters connected in series and by drawing out part of the liquid.
CONSTITUTION: The underflow of first classifier 4 is fed to drum-shape filter 6, and the filtrate is joined with the overflow of classifier 4. The filtered cake is repulped in repulping vessel 7, fed to next horizontal filter 8, and washed in two states. The washed cake is further repulped in repulping vessel 11, fed to next horizontal filter 12, and similarly washed in two stages. On the other hand, washing water W1 is fed to the latter stage of filter 12, and the filtrate is used as a washing liquid for the former stage of filter 12 through 4th leg tank 14. The filtrate of the former stage enters third leg tank 13, and part T of the filtrate is drawn out.
