Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish a clear printing small in size and at a low cost by giving intermittent motion to the letter wheel with a handy means employing a single DC motor for the drive source of various mechanisms.
CONSTITUTION: The driving force of a DC motor 6 is used to perform the rotation and shifting of the numeric wheel 1 and the symbol wheel 2, the action of the printing hammer 10 and the intermittent movement of the printing paper. The driving force of the DC motor 6 is transmitted to a gear 4 of a common shaft 3 on the numeric wheel 1 and the symbol wheel 2 so as to rotate the two wheels at a constant speed except for the printing operation. Normally, the numeric wheel 1 and the ratchet wheel 38 rotates clockwise together with the shaft 3 through a spiral spring 40. By the numeric printing signal, the printing hammer 10 turns counterclockwise and then, the press contact section 10a pushes a stopper 43 through the printing paper P to have the pawl 43a engaging the ratchet 38. The rotation of the number wheel is halted while the press contact section 10a of the hammer causes the printing paper P to be pressed in contact with the numeric section of the numeric wheel 1.
