Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title substance in high purity and yield, by hydrogenating a 3,7-dinitrodibenzothiophene-5,5-dioxide in the presence of a Pd-C catalyst in a solvent of an N-alkylamide at a specific partial pressure of hydrogen and a specified reaction temperature.
CONSTITUTION: A compound (D) of formula I is hydrogenated in the presence of 1W20wt% based on (D) of a supported Pd catalyst on carbon carrier in an N- alkylamide solvent, e.g. N,N-dimethyl-formamide, under a partial pressure of hydrogen of 1W100Kg/cm2.G at 20W140°C with agitation for 0.5W10hr to give the title substance.
USE: Useful as a diamine component for the synthesis of aromatic polyamides.
