Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a fluorescent material having improved luminance and crystallinity, and emitting green light by UV irradiation, by calcining a mixture of Ln2O3, CeO2, Tb4O7, and SiO2 containing KF in a reducing atmosphere, crushing the calcined product, and further calcining in a reducing atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: A rare-earth silicate fluorescent material activated with Ce and Tb, of the formula (Ln is at least one rate earth element selected from Y, La Gd and Ln; 1×/103≤×≤3×/10; 3×/102≤y≤3×/10; 0.8≤×≤2.2), is prepared by (1) adding 0.02W0.25 mole, based on 1 mole of the fluorescent material, of KF to a mixture of Ln2O3, CeO2, Tb4O7 and SiO2, (2) calcining the mixture at 1200W 1400°C in a reducing atmosphere, (3) crushing the product, and (4) calcining again at 1100W1400°C in a reducing atmosphere.
