Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture a hard watch case having enough strength against dent, by making hard coating by ion plating moreover on the surface of stainless material made a hard layer by chemical gas phase plating. CONSTITUTION:Watch case made of the stainless material 1, is plated in chemical gas phase by batch treatment and about 30-300mu of the hard middle layer 3 is formed. Next, hard watch case is manufactured by forming about 3-10mu of the hard coating 2 by ion plating after carrying out polishing finish of the layer 3 in order to finish up the coating 2, for example, in golden color, the material 1 is placed in the atmosphere of TiCl4 and NH3 gas at first and is treated at 900- 1300 deg.C and then, the golden middle layer 3 of titanium nitride is formed. Then, the golden coating 2 of titanium nitride is formed on the layer 3 moreover.
