Abstract

PURPOSE: To minimize the detectable maximum air quantity by dividing part of the flow tube path into plural parts with addition of the eddy generator each and at the same time providing the masking shield which closes when the intake air quantity becomes less than the fixed level to one of the divided flow tube paths.
CONSTITUTION: Masking shield 6 closes by eddy spring 7 when the intake air quantity is small, and thus the intake air passes through only divided flow tube path 1a. And the Karman voltex is produced by voltex generator 4, and the generation frequency of the voltex is detected by the hot wire within pierced path 4a. With increment of the intake air quantity, shield 6 has the rotary motion continuously until the balance is secured between the dynamic pressure applied to shield 6 and the elasticity of spring 7 caused by the displacement of the dynamic pressure. As a result, the flow is caused also at divided flow tube path 1b, and the Karman voltex is generated by voltex generator 5. The intake air quantity in this is case is proportional to the generation frequency of the Karman voltex generated by generators 4 and 5. Thus a detector, featuring a small pressure loss even with a large intake air quantity as well as a small detectable minimum intake air quantity, can be obtained.
