Abstract

PURPOSE: To control the temperature and atmosphere of the material layer in order to restrict the generation of NOx, by installing the hood above the material layer of the sintering furnace, and by introducing oxygen to execute the sintering process simultaneously recycling a part of the produced gas to be wasted.
CONSTITUTION: The hood 8 is installed above the material layer F of the sintering furnace for the iron or steel powder, and oxygen is introduced into the hood 8 and is passed through the material layer F which is then sintered by this oxygern stream. At the same time, a part of the produced gas to be wasted is introduced into the mixer 18 and is uniformly mixed with oxygen; this mixed gas is introduced into the hood 8. By this sintering operation, the temperature and atomosphere of the material layer F can be controlled so as to make the NOx concentration in the waste gas minimum, correpondingly to the composition of the material layer F.
