Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the storage ability of cell by the use of paperwise active carbon fiber, which is obtained by mixing electrolyte-resisting fiber and fiberwise active carbon, for the air electrode.
CONSTITUTION: Fiberwise active carbon of 30 to 80%, which is obtained by carbonizing the natural fiber such as nutshells of coconuts or synthetic resin fiber such as acrylic resin and by steaming it to enhance the activity, and electrolyte- resisting fiber such as pulp, vinylon or nylon are mixed to obtain paperwise active carbon fiber. This active carbon fiber is repulsion-treated with tefron emulsion to obtain the air electrode. The active carbon fiber can be impregnated with catalyst of the chelate compound, the core metal such as cobalt, iron, nickel, copper or manganse of which is surrounded by four nitrogen atoms, for example, cobalt phthaloceanine, cobalt tetraphenyle porphyrin, to improve the ability of electrode.
