Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the stress corrosion crach at the weld portion of heating pipes at a tube plate and to reduce the cost of the heating pipes by connecting the end of each of the heating pipes with a short pipe made of a material resistant to stress corrosion crack and jointing the short pipe portion to the tube plate.
CONSTITUTION: A heating pipe 1 is connected with a short pipe 5 made of a material resistant to stress corrosion crack, e.g. 3RE60, by butt weld 6, and the weld portion is subjected to stress relief annealing. Then the end portion of the heating pipe 1, that is, the short pipe 5 is inserted in a through hole of the tube plate 2, and steps of seal weld 3 and pipe expansion 4 are conducted to fix the pipe. Because the short pipe 5 resistant to stress corrosion crack is present at that portion of the heating pipe 1 located at the tube plate 2, stress corrosion crack will not occur there even when higg residual stress is developped there in the steps of seal weld 3 and pipe expansion 4.
