Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of documentation by automatically converting a lower-case character code, having been key-input yet or to be key-input, into a upper-case character code at need.
CONSTITUTION: Keyboard 1 consists of character keys 11, editing keys 12, etc. Among editing keys 12, upper-case assignment keys 121W124 are provided. Those upper-case character assignment keys send fixed signals to converting register 22 by being pushed respectively. Converting register 22 has the functions of storing character codes of characters input from character keys 11 via encoder 21 or from memory 3 and of converting needed lower-case character codes into upper-case character codes according to input signals from upper-case character assignment keys 121W124 and the contents of stored character codes; and the stored character codes are output to memory 3 or to print part 4 by way of character generator 23 as they are or being converted.
