Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to inform the error in read data from memories to CPU simply with the parity bit, by providing an error check correction circuit, partity generator and parity bit converter.
CONSTITUTION: A memory controller 6 includes an error check correction circuit 11, parity generator 12, and parity bit converter 13, and a memory 7 is a memory with error correction code. Since the interface between CPU5 and controller 6 is of parity check system, the parity bit 16 is produced from the read data 14 at the generator 12. In this case the circuit 11 checks the data 14 and correct parity bit is fed to CPU5 from the generator 12 in case of no-error or single error, and if the circuit 11 detects uncorrectable error, an uncorrectable signal 17 is output to the converter 13, which converts the bit 16 from the generator into incorrect parity bit and feeds it to the CPU5.
