Abstract

PURPOSE: To make use of a screen effectively by eliminating the need to partition the screen of a display unit into a documentation area for a writing in mixed Japanese letters and Chinese characters and a Chinese-character word generation area, by generating Chines-character words while a writing in hiragana (Japanese syllabary) is input and then by registering them in a word dictionary memory.
CONSTITUTION: When a punctuation key is depressed after a word is input and a desired Chinese character is not found in word dictionary memory 6, signal (Chinese-character dictionary access) from deciding circuit part 13 permits the whole or part of the contents of document file 25 to stand by. Once an operator assigns its rendering by a cursor shift key and informs Chinese-character conversion processing part 19 of that, a chinese character is fetched from Chinese-character dictionary memory 9 by retrieving and then displayed on display unit 17. Next, a number key is operated to display a Chinese character in the order. At the stage of the display of the selected Chinese character, the contents of file 25 made previously to stand by are reloaded through the operation of a Chinese-character conversion execution key.
