Abstract

PURPOSE: To correctly measure the thermal resistance value of a washing material without being affected by air gaps and the like by installing a refractory mold used for measuring the temperature in a heating furnace held at a temperature higher than the melting point of a molten metal.
CONSTITUTION: A washing material 13 whose thermal resistance value is desired to be measured is formed on the upper surface of a metal block 12 having a melting point higher than the molten metal, the metal block 12 being encircled by a refractory material 11 through a ceramic packing layer 16. At the upper part of the washing material 13 there is formed a predetermined casting space 14 in which the molten metal can be poured, and temperature measuring means 18 and 19 are provided at predetermined members of the casting space 14 and the metal block 12. A predetermined molten metal is poured in the casting space 14, and the temperature of the molten metal at the time of casting and the temperature to be transmitted to the metal block 12 are measured, and the thermal resistance value of the washing meterial 13 is computed on the basis of the measured values.
