Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a bent tube of high dimensional precision and free from molding imperfection in a short molding cycle by a method wherein a protuberant portion of a mold is heated during insertion of a parison and cooled during air blow molding. CONSTITUTION:A hollow parison 9 is extruded from a die head 8, in a heated and molten state; simultaneously, the protuberant portion 10 of a mold 6A is preheated. With the mold 6A closed, and while air is blown in through the die head 8, the protuberant portion 10 and other portions are cooled, to obtain a bent tube. During molding of the bent tube, the protuberant portion 10 first contacts the parison 9, so that the contacted portion would be cooled and blow molding would be imperfect if the portion 10 had not been preheated. The preheating of the portion 10 avoids such inconvenience.
