Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable welding operations of long-length works to be efficiently and safely accomplished by making a perpendicular frame body oscillatable about its perpendicular axis, making the oscillation axis of a torch mounting jig positionable at two points and incorporating positioning operations into the program of the control unit.
CONSTITUTION: With the oscillation axial center of a torch mounting jig 11 being positioned in the position Q1, the work W is fixed to a work mounting jig 5 and its front part is supported to a cradle 7. Then, the rear half of the work W is welded by a series of operations such as positioning in the X, Y, Z, ψ, θ directions, welding operations of welding current, etc., the contraction and extension operations of the rod of an air cylinder 13, etc. according to the program of the remote control unit built in with a microcomputer.
