Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain absorptive characteristics of stable impact energy by forming concave or convex beads in plural stages in forward direction to bellows-shaped deformation against the load in longitudinal direction in a frame structure of an automobile.
CONSTITUTION: In a frame 1 forming closed section tightly bonded on a panel 2, concave beads are provided in plural stages in the perpendicular direction to the longitudinal direction of the frame 1. All the stages of the concave beads 3 are provided in each side surface of the frame 1 in such a manner that beads on one side surface are alternately formed with those formed in its adjacent side surfaces. Gradual plural stages are constituted to be alternately staggered every stage so that for example after installing the first stage on the first side 1, and the third side 13, the next stage is installed on the second side 12 and the fourth side 14, etc. Thus, when an impact in the direction of arrow P is exerted on the frame 1, the frame 1 is regularly deformed and folded successively in a shape of bellows at the bead portions 3, by which deformation the impact energy is absorbed.
