Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare an α,ω-aliphatic dinitrile useful as a raw material for the production of an α,ω-polymethylenediamine in high yield, by reacting an organic dibasic acid or its diazide with ammonia in the presence of a specific catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: An organic dibasic acid I (n is 6W10) or an organic dibasic acid diamide II is reacted with ammonia to give the organic dinitrile III (e.g. sebaconitrile). The reaction catalyst is, e.g. a manganese compound (e.g. manganese acetate or manganese formate) which easily forms the carboxylic acid soap when melted together with the dibasic acid I. The amount of the catalyst is 0.01W5mol% on the basis of 1mol of the compound I or II. The amount of the tar by-product is remarkably reduced.
