Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform vapor-liquid contacting operation by forming a vigorous turbulent flow without internal objects by providing a vapor-liquid separator at the top of a vapor-liquid contactor, where gas and liquid are separated from each other and the liquid is circulated.
CONSTITUTION: In the vapor-liquid contactor of wet flue gas desulfurization process, etc., gas to be treated is supplied through the feed pipe 3 and the supply opening 2 into a gas ascending flow path, and on the other hand, an absorbing liquid is supplied through the liquid circulating pipe 8 and the liquid supply opening 4 into the gas ascending flow path. Whereupon, the absorbing liquid meets with the gas in the gas ascending flow path and part or the whole amount of the liquid is directed to the vapor-liquid separator 5 while being agitated by the gas vigorously, and the gas so treated is discharged to the outside of the apparatus, while the absorbing liquid is stored in the tank 5 and then circulated through the liquid circulating pipe 8 to the liquid supply opening 4 by means of potential evergy. Thus, it is possible to perform effective vapor-liquid contact by a vigorous vapor- liquid mixed turbulent flow without internal objects such as trays, etc., in the apparatus.
