Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent toner image supporting material from winding on a fixing roller by supplying powder release agent to the fixing roller and forming a coating layer by the powder release agent on the fixing roller. CONSTITUTION:Powder release agent 12 contained in a vessel 11, e.g., powder of tetrafluoroethylene resin, is scooped up by hoppers 13, 14, is conveyed and is supplied to the spacing part between a roller 1 and blade 9 from the upper stream side of the coating blade 9 with respect to the rotating direction of the roller 1. The release material 12 is then pressed by the coating blade 9 and is rubbed into the surface of the roller 1, whereby primary coating is accomplished. Following to this, it is subjected to secondary coating by a coating blade 10, whereby the even and extremely thin release material film is formed on the surface of the roller 1. After the fixing is done, the surface portion or the whole of the thin film is removed from the roller 1 by a cleaner 8 and the thin film of the powder release material is formed newly, whereby the toner image support material is prevented from winding on the fixing roller.
