Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a casting mold additive for continuously casting an extremely low-carbon steel not expanding during using obtained by a method wherein a flux, a metal nitride and a small amount of a carbon material are blended with a CaO- SiO2-Al2O3 substrate.
CONSTITUTION: To provide a casting mold additive used in continuously casting a molten steel of an extremely low-carbon steel, a stainless steel for a thin plate. To a CaO-SiO2-Al2O3 substrate material and a flux for controlling a melting temp. and a viscosity comprising a fluoride, an oxide of alkali metal or alkaline earth metal, boride or the like, 2W8% of a metal nitride with a particle size of below 100mesh for controlling a melting speed of an additive and 0.5W1.5% of a carbon material with a particle size of below 100mesh as a foaming and expansion-preventing agent of an additive are blended. As the above-described nitride, Si3N4, BN, MnN, Cr2N, Fe4N, AlN, TiN, ZrN, Li3N or the like are used. Moreover, by adding one or more of Si, Al, Ca-Si with a particle size of below 100mesh as a reducing agent in a concentration of below 8%, the carbon absorption and the additive expansion are not generated.
