Forms of spring for manufacture include coil, laminated, belleville, etc. To form friction boundary face on the spring material, a method is used wherein chemical processing is operated, grain boundary corrosion is produced and many fine cracks are produced on the surface of the material by the grain boundary corrosion. Another method is to cut many stripe-shaped grooves on the surface of the material and these grooves are converted into boundary faces with many gaps. By this, it is possible to obtain springs of high oscillation attenuation characteristics, and even if oil flows between plate springs manufactured in this way, they are hardly affected by it.
