Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the developing method which is capable of well reporducing the both of fine line images and gradation images by applying alternating bias voltages between photosensitive drum and developer roller and further changing over repulsive magnetifc field and single magnetic field within the roller.
CONSTITUTION: The developing device is constituted by a photosensitive drum 5, toner support roller 7 and an alternating electric field applying power source 16 for applying alternating bias voltages between the both. Further, a magnet roll 12 is provided in the toner roller 7. The magnet roll 12 has the magnetic pole M1 consisting of mutually repulsing magnetic poles S-S and the single magnetic pole M2 consisting of dissimilar pole N. This magnet 12 turns a lever 13 against a spring 14 by a plunger 15. Now, when the M1 pole is opposed in the drum 5 in the case of fine wire images, the toners repulse with each other and the density becomes coarse to weaken the adhesion power onto the roller 7, thus the toner movement is readily accomplished and the good images may be obtained. In the case of gradation images, the images free from photographic fogs may be obtained by using the M2 pole.
