Abstract

PURPOSE: To treat oxygen-dissolved waste water cheaply and efficiently with simple equipment by passing the water through the space between two rows of many bed plates which hold previously attached iron oxidizing bacteria and have been suspended in an oxidizing vessel to contact the water to the bacteria.
CONSTITUTION: Ferrous ion-contg. waste water is continuously fed from inflow hole 4 of oxidizing vessel 1, and simultaneously blower 5 is driven to spout air from many through holes 3' bored in blast pipe 3. The water is passed through the space between bed plates 2 each having a relatively large surface area and holding previously attached iron oxidizing bacteria. While being passed through the space, the water is contacted to the bacteria adsorbed on the surfaces of plates 2 to oxidize the ferrous ion in the water. The ferrous ion-free water is discharged from outflow hole 6 by overflowing.
