Abstract

PURPOSE: To save the electric power for driving a blower through an efficient use of inertia, by providing a blower control system in which, when the blower operation is changed from a high-speed mode to a low-speed mode, a damper is closed while maximizing the secondary resistance to permit the blower to run by the inertia, while, when the operation is switched again to the high-speed operation mode, the secondary resistance is decreased with the damper kept in the closed state.
CONSTITUTION: The maximum flow rate is obtained when a blower operates with a short-circuit switch 7 closed and a variable resistor 5 presenting the highest resistance. The switching of operation from maximum flow rate mode to minimum flow rate mode is achieved by opening the short-circuit switch 7 to open and maximizing the resistance value of the resistor 5, i.e. the secondary resistance. In consequence, the blower 1 runs due to its inertia while gradually releasing the energy so that a motor 2 for driving the blower is unloaded. For maximizing the flow rate again, the short circuit switch 7 is closed with the damper 2 closed, and the variable resistor 5 is adjusted gradually to present the minimum resistance. This arrangement permits an efficient use of the energy of inertia and, hence, a remarkable reduction of the driving electric power.
