PURPOSE:To increase the operationability of facsimile unit, by transmitting the scanning original signal added with specific information in the facsimile unit and recording the reception picture including the specific information added at the reception side. CONSTITUTION:When the information from the remote location is inputted to the computer by using facsimile, the manuscript scanning section scans the input document 12 and outputs the electric signal quantized, and the mark signal generating section 20 produces the predetermined mark signal, and this electric signal and the mark signal are synthesized and superimposed at 19 for transmission signal compression 21. Further, the synthesized signal compressed at the modulation and demodulation section 22 is modulated and fed to the transmission control section 23 and outputted to the communication line 24. On the other hand, at the reception side, the signal from the communication line 24 is demodulated 22 and fed to the recording output section 26 via the reception signal extension section 25, and the reception picture added with the timing mark having the reference pattern 63 and the character line detection mark 64 is recorded 27.
