Abstract

PURPOSE:To procure rubber ring sealability for a plastic pipe socket by a method wherein a heated end portion of a plastic pipe is forcibly fitted over a socket forming core having a reversely slanted surface, and then the portions near slender portions are formed by rotary forming means moved in the circumferential direction. CONSTITUTION:A plastic pipe end portion with increased wall thickness is heated, and forcibly fitted over a socket forming core 1. The core 1 comprises the first expanding slanted step portion a in the rear, the second expanding slanted step portion b in the front, and a reversely slanted surface c therebetween. Then rotary forming rolls 21, 22 are moved in the circumferential direction to crush the gaps present around the slender portions b0 of the portion b. Upon this compression, the inside surface of a rubber ring fitting groove of the socket is formed with predetermined precision by the outside surface of the core 1. By the circumferential movement of the rolls 21 and 22, the plastic contacted by the rolls is drawn in the circumferential direction, so that the circumferential tensile strength of these portions of the plastic pipe is increased.
