Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the lens which combines both of antireflecting effect and antifogging effect by attaching an antifogging coating film of thickness λ/4 on the uppermost part of the surface of the lens.
CONSTITUTION: The antifogging layer is attached at thickness λ/4 on the layer 2 of the antireflection lens. When a substrate 1 is glass, MgF2 of refractive index 1.38 is generally attached as the layer 2, but as the antifogging coat, the refractive index is roughly about 1.35W1.50 and therefore, this layer has higher reflection than the MgF2 single layer coat depending upon cases but it has the performance provided with both of antireflection and antifogging effects. Further even in the case of, e.g., the multicoats of three layers type, the substitution of the uppermost layer 5 with the antifogging film provides the film having two effects of antireflection and antifogging effects. By attaching the antifogging coat film of thickness λ/4 on the uppermost part of the surface of the lens in this way, the two effects of antireflection and antifogging may be provided.
