Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce piston slap noise of an engine, by forming annular grooves on both edges of an oil scraping ring groove and also forming an oil induction concave from the grooves to piston edge. CONSTITUTION:Annular grooves 12a, 12b, with a diameter smaller than the maximum diameter of piston profile, are formed on upper and lower edges of a piston ring groove 12 to which an oil scraping ring 11 is fitted at the center of a skirt 4a of the piston 4. Lubricating oil scraped off by the ring 11 is evenly induced to the piston radially. An oil induction concave 13, communicated with the groove 12 and reaching the piston edge 4b, is formed on the lower side below the ring 11, so that lubricating oil on the wall of a cylinder 3 is not scraped off by the piston edge 4b.
